Hardware warranty has never covered the data on the drive. Cloud Backup keeps an encrypted off-device copy of the studies you select, so a lost, stolen or failed device is an inconvenience rather than a loss. It is available now and included with the SoftDicom 2T at no extra cost for the full five years of that model’s warranty — up to 2 TB mirrored, encrypted on the device before it leaves, and off until you switch it on.

A warranty covers the drive. It has never covered the studies on it.
Every SoftDicom ships with a hardware warranty — one, two or five years depending on the model. If the device fails, it is replaced. What comes back is an empty device.
For a physician who has spent four years building a personal archive of cases, that is the wrong half of the problem solved. The same is true of the device that is dropped in a corridor, left in an airport tray, or simply lost. The hardware is the cheap part.
Cloud Backup closes that gap, and on the 2 TB model it costs nothing to close.
Local first. Cloud second. Always in that order.
The device is never waiting on a network to do its job. The off-device copy is something that happens afterwards.
The study lands locally, as it always has
A study arrives from the console, a CD or a folder and is written to the device first. That copy is complete and usable with the network unplugged. Nothing about the offline workflow changes.
It is encrypted on the device
Before a single byte leaves, the study is encrypted on the device with AES-256. It travels over TLS and stays encrypted at rest. What sits in the cloud is ciphertext, not images.
The second copy sits off-device
The encrypted copy is held off-device, up to the full 2 TB of the drive. Lose the device, drop it, have it stolen or have the SSD fail, and the studies restore onto a replacement SoftDicom — without going back to the modality.

Encrypted before it leaves
Studies are encrypted on the device with AES-256 and stay encrypted at rest, travelling over TLS. The device holds the key material, not the transport.
Up to 2 TB, mirrored
The cloud copy matches the drive: back up selected studies and worklists or the full 2 TB, retained for as long as the plan is active.
Off by default, restore anywhere
Disabled until you turn it on — with it off, nothing leaves the device. Turn it on and any backed-up study restores onto a replacement SoftDicom without going back to the modality.
Included with the SoftDicom 2T
Cloud Backup is not a plan you subscribe to. It is an entitlement that comes with the 2 TB device, for the same five years its hardware is covered.
Why only the 2 TB model?
A cloud copy is sized against the drive it mirrors, and the cost of holding it is real. Rather than spread a thin allowance across three models, the whole entitlement sits on the model built to be an archive. The SoftDicom 1T (1 TB, ₹79,900) and the 480 GB model do not include Cloud Backup and it cannot be added to them.

Is Cloud Backup available now?
Yes. Cloud Backup is generally available and shipping. It was previously offered only under an enterprise agreement; it is now included with the SoftDicom 2T (2 TB) at no extra cost.
Which SoftDicom models include Cloud Backup?
The SoftDicom 2T (2 TB) only. It is included free for that model’s full five-year warranty term, with up to 2 TB of encrypted cloud capacity. The 480 GB and 1 TB models do not include Cloud Backup and cannot have it added.
Does it cost anything extra?
No. There is no subscription, no separate SKU and nothing to add at checkout. The capability is part of the SoftDicom 2T purchase and runs for the five years of that model’s warranty.
Does enabling Cloud Backup break the offline guarantee?
No, because it is off until you turn it on. With Cloud Backup disabled — which is how every device ships — no study data leaves the device and SoftDicom works exactly as it always has, with the network unplugged. Enabling it is a deliberate administrator action, and even then only the studies and worklists you select are copied.
How is the data protected?
Studies are encrypted on the device with AES-256 before they leave it, travel over TLS, and remain encrypted at rest. Backed-up studies restore only onto an authorised SoftDicom device.
What happens after the five years?
The local device and its studies are unaffected — Cloud Backup has never been required to use SoftDicom. Continuing the off-device copy beyond the warranty term is arranged with sales, as is pooled capacity for a multi-device or multi-site deployment.
We run several cath labs. Can one team administer all of them?
Yes. Multi-site deployments — typically one device per cath lab or per modality — can pool cloud capacity and be administered centrally under an enterprise agreement, so each lab keeps its own local copy while the group holds one off-device archive.
