What exactly do I receive when I buy SoftDicom?
A USB-C solid state drive with the SoftDicom viewer already installed and configured, plus the cable. There is no separate download, licence key to enter, or installer to run — you plug the drive into a computer and the viewer opens from it.
Which capacity should I choose?
Three models are available: SoftDicom 480 (480 GB, 1-year warranty), SoftDicom 1T (1 TB, 2-year warranty) and SoftDicom 2T (2 TB, 5-year warranty). Capacity determines how many studies you can carry at once; the viewer software is identical on all three.
Do I need administrator rights to use it?
No. Nothing is installed onto the host computer and nothing is written to the system drive, so no administrator password, package manager or IT approval is required. This is the usual reason clinicians choose it over a desktop viewer.
Which operating systems does it work on?
Windows 10 and 11, macOS 11 or newer, and Ubuntu 20.04 or newer. The same physical drive works on all three — you are not buying a per-platform licence, so a drive bought for a Mac also opens on a Windows workstation.
Is there a recurring subscription?
No. SoftDicom is a one-time purchase of the device, and the viewer on it keeps working offline for the life of the drive. There is no annual licence, no seat count and no per-study fee.
Which imaging modalities are supported?
CT, MRI, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, PET/CT, SPECT and Cath-Lab studies, with JPEG 2000, JPEG Lossless, RLE and JPEG Baseline compression. Full DICOM Part 3, 4, 6, 10 and 14 compliance.
