AE Title
Application Entity Title
An AE Title is the name a DICOM device identifies itself by on the network, used together with its IP address and port to address it when another device opens an association.
What AE Title means in practice
It is a short string, up to sixteen characters, and it is case-sensitive — which is the single most common cause of a DICOM connection that refuses to establish despite correct addressing. Both ends usually need configuring: the sender needs the receiver's AE Title, and a receiver often restricts which calling AE Titles it will accept.
