Storage SCU
Storage Service Class User
A Storage SCU is the role a device plays when it initiates a C-STORE request to send DICOM images to a Storage SCP — the role a CT or MR console performs when it pushes a finished study to a PACS.
What Storage SCU means in practice
SCU is the requesting half of a DICOM service and SCP the providing half, so every transfer has one of each. The SCU chooses the destination, proposes the transfer syntaxes and drives the transfer; the SCP accepts or rejects what is offered. The same physical device is frequently an SCU for one operation and an SCP for another.
