Radiology Viewer for CT, MRI, X-Ray, Mammography, PET/CT and SPECT

One drive, every reading location, no network.

SoftDicom is a DICOM viewer and personal PACS on an external SSD. It carries your radiology studies between machines, includes a PACS worklist on every model, and works entirely offline.

Which radiology modalities does the viewer support?

SoftDicom’s viewer supports CT, MRI, X-Ray, Mammography, PET/CT and SPECT studies, alongside Ultrasound and Cath-Lab imaging. All are covered under the same DICOM Part 3, 4, 6, 10 and 14 compliance, so a radiology study opens the same way regardless of which of these modalities produced it. The full modality and format table is on tech specs, and the broader all-modality framing is on the medical image viewer page.

Can I move a radiology study between machines?

Yes. The same device runs on Windows 10/11, macOS 11+ and Ubuntu 20.04+, so you can move a study between, for example, a Linux workstation and a Windows reporting station without a second tool, a second licence or a second copy of the study. The macOS behaviour is identical.

Does it include a worklist for reading studies?

Every SoftDicom model — 480 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB — includes a PACS worklist alongside the DICOM viewer.

How many radiology studies fit on one device?

480 GB~1,000 studies
1 TB~2,000 studies
2 TB~5,000 studies

Studies are read from local storage, so the viewer works fully offline once they are on the drive. Side-by-side model detail is on compare models.

Frequently Asked Questions

CT, MRI, X-Ray, Mammography, PET/CT and SPECT, in addition to Ultrasound and Cath-Lab imaging, all under DICOM Part 3, 4, 6, 10 and 14 compliance.

Does the same device work in more than one reading location?

How many studies can a radiology reading list hold on one device?

Around 1,000 on the 480 GB model, 2,000 on the 1 TB model, and 5,000 on the 2 TB model.
